The Recreation Division offers a number of sports programs for children, teens & adults.


COMMUNITY GYMS

Tice Valley and Foothill Community Gymnasiums are available for public and private rentals. Book your special events (birthday parties, basketball/volleyball parties, luncheons, business meetings, etc.) with us. For further information call Leo Harrod or Brian Papka at (925) 256-3572.

YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAMS & GROUPS

NOTE: Many of the programs in this section are NOT run by the City of Walnut Creek, but instead, serve as their own entity and often utilize city facilities to provide a service. All inquiries pertaining to a program, aside from items involving fields and/or facilities, should be directed to the organization itself. Thank you.

Walnut Creek Soccer Club - (925) 930-0210

The WCSC is a youth soccer organization with players ages 6-18. For information on registration, call Phyllis at the number above. Season starts the first week in September.

Walnut Creek Youth Athletic Association (925) 933-4884

WCYAA YOUTH SPORTS offers recreational sports for boys and girls ages 4 through 8th grade, including Flag Football, Basketball, T-Ball/Baseball/Softball, and Summer Soccer. The emphasis is on fun, good sportsmanship and team play. Coaches are volunteers or team parents. Call or visit www.wcyaa.com for more information.

FITNESS PROGRAMS

Jazzercise

Jazzercise is an aerobic fitness program with popular classes in Walnut Creek for over 17 years. Classes are designed for all fitness levels and ages, with both high and low impact and intensity options given in each class. Classes also include strengthening floor routines for toning the major muscles. All classes are approximately 60-65 minutes in length.
Classes are on-going.

Drop-In Badminton
Drop in badminton is available at the Tice Valley Community Gymnasium on Monday and Friday mornings from 9:00-11:00am and on Sunday morning from 7:00-9:00am. Cost is $2 per person at the door.

Registration packets for the adult 5 on 5 basketball leagues will be available at the Tice Valley Gym starting September 6. Team registration will be accepted from February 6 to March 3 from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. League play begins November 6. Games will be played at the Tice Valley Gym.

Thursday Night 5 on 5

Registration packets for the adult 5 on 5 basketball leagues will be available at the Tice Valley Gym. Team registration will be accepted from January 9 to February 3 from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. Games will be played at the Tice Valley Gym.

The 18-hole championship Boundary Oak Municipal Golf Course is owned by the City of Walnut Creek and operated by Bob Boldt, PGA Class A PGA Professional and Superintendent. Complete golf amenities are provided for golfers: 55-stall driving range, with grass and night lighting; million dollar teaching staff from the PGA Tour and Senior PGA Tour; Bob Boldt’s Junior Camp, voted number 1 junior camp by the NCPGA, runs every week during the summer months; group lessons for all ages and ability, and starting at $15 per lesson for beginning juniors, and; Boldt’s Golf Center, custom-made clubs, discount prices, and a fully-stocked golf shop. To reserve a tee time, please call the reservation line at (925) 934-6211. Resident ID cards may be obtained at the golf course on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m.

TENNIS (925) 945-0105

The Walnut Creek Tennis Center, located in Heather Farm Park, provides a full service tennis program. Services include a well-stocked pro shop with the latest tennis fashions, an excellent racquet demonstration program, guaranteed one-day stringing, and a large variety of lessons and programs for adults and juniors of all ability levels. All products and services are very reasonably priced.

Tennis Memberships

The City of Walnut Creek maintains tennis courts at Heather Farm Park and five satellite community courts (Larkey Park, Rudgear Park, Civic Center, Arbolado Park, and Northgate High School). Each person using the courts at Heather Farm Park must pay a daily fee or buy an annual use card.

Lessons and Programs

Individual and group lessons are available for all ages and playing levels and the tennis staff will also be happy to adapt lessons to meet any special needs. For further information regarding any of the above mentioned lessons and programs, please call 945-0105.

VOLLEYBALL

Monday Night Coed League.

Registration packets for the adult volleyball leagues are available at the Tice Valley Community Gymnasium. For more information or for a registration packet, call Brian Papka at 943-5899 ext. 258.

Drop-in Volleyball

The drop-in volleyball program meets Friday evenings from 7:00 to 10:00 pm at Tice Valley Gymnasium. Cost is $5 at the door and is limited to 60 participants. For more information, please call (925) 256-3572.

Wednesday Night Women’s 4’s and Reverse Coed Volleyball League

Registration packets for the Wednesday Adult Volleyball League will be available at the Tice Valley Gym.

Jewish Community Center

The Contra Costa Jewish Community Center offers a wide variety of youth sport and recreation programming, including basketball, hockey, pre-ballet, story dance, self defense, soccer and baseball. Adult activities include martial arts classes as well as group exercise programs like low impact aerobics, stretch and strength, and yoga. Also check out our adult basketball and volleyball leagues. Even enroll your 3 - 6 year old in our after-school enrichment programs. Remember, you do not need to be a JCC member to participate in any of these programs. Adult Softball (925) 943-1955

Walnut Creek Adult Softball, Inc. provides a recreational slow-pitch program with games being played at Heather Farm Park in Walnut Creek. The program begins in September and ends just before Thanksgiving. For more information, call (925) 943-1955 or log onto www.wcasi.org.
